Hedgehog Travel

It was a beautiful, sunny day when we left for camping. Everything was ready....the sleeping bags, the tent and of course our personal items which we stored in our HEDGEHOG BAGS.

First we passed the Middle of the world and yes it was a great day. The sun was shining and the birds were singing.

So we started with sunshine and good mood enjoying the beautiful landscape of the cloud forest of Ecuador.

Now it got a bit more cloudy and we thought ... " No problem for us..we are with HEDGEHOG. Rain won't harm us." So we kept on moving.

Now it got a bit darker...and yes it started raining. I had some clothes in my bag. "Would they get wet ? " I thought.  "Do you have a rain coat...?" asked Ash and I said " Yes...but hold on a second...I can't stop now." We had to slow down in order to find a place to park. The cars behind us were pushing us. It was impossible to stop. Finally we were able to stop for a little break. My hands were freezing and I thought .. "I should have brought my gloves.." We put our HEDGEHOG bags on the ground and changed clothes. I checked my bag and WOW everything was all right. The rain did not do any harm on the inside of my bag. "THIS IS HEDGEHOG!!! AWESOME.

"Let's move ...!!!" said Ash and we continued our trip. The rain and wind made it more difficult to drive on my motorcycle. "What happened to the shining sun and the singing birds ?" I thought.
We were hungry too. So there we were..in the middle of nowhere, driving through the rain with our tent and sleeping bags. At least our things we carried in our HEDGEHOG bags were ok. It was cold too..even as we went downhill. I remembered when we left...sunny and not cold at all. That's why I did not take my gloves...Gloves in the cloud forrest ?..Why should I bother. Wrong !!!

... and now something unexpected happened...

I felt something below me...something wasn't right. I felt something is pulling us down. What was it?
Then I just heard a big bang !!!  ... Ash shouted.."Ohh nooo" The motorcycle was shaking,  we were and so was HEDGEHOG !!! Somehow I managed to stop the motorcycle. Actually it stopped by itself and I thought..."Is this it?"  Then we checked what happened and it was a flat tire. All right. " Is there anybody out there?" I shouted. Nothing. Nice...rain, feeling hungry and a damaged bike. What to do ?

After 10 minutes a pick up truck stopped by and asked us if we need some help. I said" Yes..we need tools in order to change the tire" He said "I charge you 10 $ to drive you to the next village." I said"..Do you know how heavy the motorcycle is?" He looked at us and after a few minutes he left. "This is not happening" I thought. Ash went a bit into the jungle and he said " ...do you want some lemons ? " "Now ?" I said...then he pointed at to some green little men standing a mile away from us. I said "Those could be cops" Let's check this out. I took my camera and put on my lens. I zoomed them in and yes. This could be our way out!!!

I waved and whistled as much as I could and then they gave us a sign. GREAT !!! Someone might help us. But the question reminded "Are we gonna camp today"
After 10 minutes they came with their car. I asked" Do you have any tools? I have a flat tire and I need to use my spare tire to change it" They answered " No we don't, but we can check in the next village." And so they did. After 20 minutes they came back with the right tools and we were able to change the tire. They were really friendly and we were very thankful for their help. Now we went to the village to see if anyone could help us fixing the damaged tire just for security.  And yes we found someone.

It was already afternoon and the rain stopped. Thanks god. The man from the repair shop said "Your tire cannot be fixed as the hole was too big." Then he checked the air and we were on our own again.

It actually got quite nice as the clouds opened up. " Can we make it to the camping place?" I thought.

We started moving again. Downhill and yes.. finally it got warmer. Awesome !!!
Suddenly in the middle of nowhere We discovered a restaurant. Just like in the movies.

It was still a bit misty, but we wanted to eat. And there we go..Caldo de Gallina !!! Perfect !!!

Best soup ever !!! Some nice coffee and we were ready again to continue our trip.

Now the afternoon sun came through the cloud forest and I thought that would be a good moment for HEDGEHOG !!!  I must say those bags are not only beautiful and practical...they are also very useful in case you go on a trip and it rains. A bit after we left the restaurant we witnessed one of the best sunsets ever !!!

THIS IS ECUADOR - THIS IS HEDGEHOG TRAVEL
